Chinese lessons for ages 6- 12 years

It is our belief that having fun and developing positive experiences towards Chinese learning is important to successful Chinese language acquisition. This is why we have designed our classes to be fun, interactive, hands-on, and engaging. We prefer to teach using creative methods rather than rote learning.

Mandarin Tree offers 10 levels of Chinese lessons, each level is covered in 1 term of 10 lessons.

Content 

We will be teaching children to read using the popular and effective Sagebooks Basic Chinese 500《基础汉字 500》. It is a popular and effective levelled Chinese reader that uses a systematic approach. We will be pairing this with Mandarin Tree’s creative character story-telling method and hands-on learning to teach children character writing. On top of that, we will also be using specially designed worksheets and games to get children excited about learning.

Capacity

Our online lessons have a capacity of 9 children. Siblings in the same class get a discount of 20% off.

Duration and Schedule

Each class is around 90 mins long

We follow the calendar of our school, and each term runs during the quarters of the year (13 weeks) with 10 lessons in each term (3 weeks of no lessons). See here for more details.

Mode of lesson delivery

Sessions take place on Zoom. One week before the start of the course, you will be sent a zoom link and password which will be used for all sessions. 

For extra security, a password is required to enter the meeting room and everyone will be admitted into a virtual waiting room before being allowed in manually. 

Materials

You will receive a link and password to access printable worksheets and learning materials. An email with additional information for each week will also be sent to you. Sometimes preparation work may be required before the class. (E.g., cutting printable materials, preparing colouring materials, legos, play dough etc.). There is no need to purchase sagebooks, although it would be a nice addition to have if you would like to revise the words after class.

195 euros per term (10 x 90 minutes class)
